For Dennis L. Martire, vice president and mid-Atlantic regional manager of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), training is a cornerstone of empowerment. A Steady Rise in LIUNA
Martire’s career began in 1990 as an international representative, shortly after earning his Bachelor of Science in government from West Virginia Wesleyan College. A member of Pittsburgh’s Local Union #1058, he quickly rose through LIUNA’s ranks, serving as assistant director and director of the construction department before becoming assistant regional manager in 2000. By 2002, he was elected to his current leadership role, where his focus on training took center stage.

As chairman of several trusts, he continues to promote professional development and worker rights.
