Dennis L. Martire: A Labor Union Visionary
Dennis L. Martire has devoted over 30 years to the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), serving as Vice President and Regional Manager of the Mid-Atlantic region since 2002. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing laborers’ rights and working conditions.
A Career of Growth
After earning a degree in Government from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1986, Martire joined LIUNA in 1990 as an International Representative. He progressed through roles as Assistant Director and Director of the construction department, becoming Assistant Regional Manager in 2000. In 2002, he was elected Vice President. As a member of Labor Union #1058, Martire’s personal connection to labor drives his work.
Major Accomplishments
Martire led the unionization of over 200 workers on Virginia’s Route 495 hot lanes project, a significant achievement for the construction industry. He has also secured fair wages in Maryland and oversees LIUNA’s training programs. His leadership extends to boards like the Mid-Atlantic Laborers’ Political League.
